Abdullah Ibn Abbas (R.A) narrates:
“Our beloved Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) declared the payment of Sadaqatul-Fitr as an obligation. It purifies the fasting person from any indecent acts or speech and is a source of feeding for the poor.” (Abu Dawud)
Sadaqatul-Fitr, also known as Zakat al-Fitr or Fitrana, is a compulsory charity given at the end of Ramadan before Eid Salah. It is required from every Muslim who has food or provisions beyond their basic needs, and must be paid on behalf of oneself and dependants.
