Currently, Gaza resembles a fractured jigsaw puzzle, with different segments under the control of various branches of the Israeli military. The absence of centralised authority has led to a fragmented system of management, with some areas relying on community-based setups. The majority of aid shipments are directed towards the Rafah area, still under Palestinian control, where many displaced individuals seek refuge.
Prior to October 7th, Gaza received around 500 trucks of essential goods and aid daily, sustaining businesses and livelihoods. However, a six-week blockade disrupted this lifeline. Although border crossings have since reopened, only 80 to 100 aid trucks manage to enter Gaza daily, a mere fraction of previous levels, making the situation worse.
Despite these challenges, we are providing daily hot meals, and food packs are distributed discreetly to avoid drawing attention/crowds or risking the safety of those involved. While media coverage is limited due to safety concerns, these efforts offer a glimmer of hope amidst adversity.
